Phuket Diving For Your Kids
Dear parents!
We offer several diving programs for your children that can diversify your holiday together in Phuket, and perhaps even help you take a little break from your restlessness.
Please read some important notes regarding the features of children's diving.
The characteristics of children's psychology and physiology impose certain limitations on their ability to engage in diving:
-
In most cases, children get cold quite quickly, even in warm water. And they don't like to admit it.
-
It is harder for children to move around in thick neoprene suits and heavy fins.
-
The peculiarities of the development of the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems lead to problems during prolonged physical exertion.
-
Children may be prone to overestimating their abilities or underestimating dangers.
-
Children may not fully understand the basic principles of safe behavior underwater.
-
Children are more susceptible to peer pressure, especially from parents.
-
Children may strive to complete a task "at any cost" without considering the consequences.
Consider following:
-
Pay close attention when filling out the medical questionnaire and the liability waiver form.
-
Do not rush to introduce children to diving if your child is not yet ready physically or psychologically. It is very important that the child is an excellent swimmer and comfortable in the water.
-
Start with simpler programs: Discover Scuba Diving (1 day and 2 dives). If the child enjoys it and everything goes well, continue training to the level of Junior Scuba Diver (another 2 days). If interest remains and the child has the strength, the Junior Open Water Diver course can be completed in one more day. In our dive center, the cost of the previous course will be included in the cost of the subsequent course, provided that all courses are taken within one trip.
-
Be prepared for the course to take longer for a child than for an adult student. Take breaks of 1-2 days.
-
Do not pressure the child. Try not to interfere with the instructor's work.
-
Do not scold for mistakes, but encourage the slightest successes and achievements.
-
Never exceed the depth and dive complexity limits set for children, either during the course or after its completion. When your child receives their certification, try to dive together as often as possible.
-
Be sure to purchase diving insurance for yourself and your children.
